Lost Park Found in Muskegon Township

Muskegon Township Supervisor Dave Kieft was contacted by some Township residents living in Pine Grove Manor that claimed they knew of a County park that was behind Pine Grove Manor and Brookhaven one of them had actually helped build this park. Dave contacted me and we formed a "search party". August 1st, the residents that called Dave joined us along with Pine Grove Manor's Property Manager, Leigh Ann Bitson, and the Administator from Brookhaven, Marty Rosenfeld, and Jerry Sandres from Muskegon Township DPW, and we headed into the woods in search of the lost Park.

We did find Fairchild Park back there, the walkways are overgrown and no structures or benches remain, but the promise of possibilities was alive in all of of us by the time we had gone from the beginning of the walkways to the end.

The opportunities for the residents of Pine Grove Manor and Brookhaven would be greatly increased if we could just open the walkways, and soon a plan was born.

Monday August 12th we will be meeting at 8:30am to start the project, Township Supervisor Dave and I will be working with volunteers from Pine Grove Manor, Brookhaven, and the the County Parks Department will be helping as well as the County Sheriff, MATS, Michigan Works, Muskegon Township Volunteers and County Volunteers.

Feel free to grab a shovel and come on out, the entrance is behind Brookhaven, we are starting at 8:30am on Monday August 12th.

Here are some of the picture I took on our trip into the woods to find the park.
